When I heard 4th of July on the radio I decided to give Shooter a chance and
listened to a few more of his tracks online. I wouldn't have even bothered
except that I'm a huge Waylon fan. I haven't listened to much new country
in years because I think almost all of it being pumped out these days is crap
(apparently Shooter agrees). I got "Put the O Back in Country" and it is one of
the best CD's I've heard in years. Then by complete random chance I noticed
Shooter was doing a show in Ballard at the Tractor Tavern. I went solo (never
done that before), lucked out and got a ticket (sold out, which surprised me),
and the CD hasn't left my CD player since! He put on a fantastic show, the
average age of fans was probably 30, not a single cowboy hat in the place, and
everyone knew all the lyrics! Surprised the hell out of me (and I think him
too). Shooter fan for life now. Other than Phil Pritchett, Robert Earl Keen, and
the old guys I'm off of country music.
